On Saturday, August 8, Antwerp Pride will once again parade through the city. In addition to the well-known parade, there will also be plenty to experience in the shopping streets and various neighborhoods of the Antwerp city center that day. Together with local entrepreneurs, Beleef Antwerpen will provide extra animation, music, and activities along and around the route.
Anyone coming to Antwerp for Pride on Saturday does not have to limit themselves to the parade. From Meir and Kammenstraat to Groenplaats, Lange Koepoortstraat, and Kloosterstraat: in various places in the city, entrepreneurs will join in the celebration.
From glitter on Meir to rodeo in Kammenstraat
On Meir, shoppers will be immersed in the Pride atmosphere with a glitter bar and a mobile tattoo bar. The Polaroid Boys & Girls will also be around to capture visitors on camera and provide them with a tangible memory of Pride.
A few streets further, Kammenstraat will be dedicated to Rainbow Shopping. The entrepreneurs in the street will help create the atmosphere, and those who feel like a challenge between shopping can try their hand at the Pride Rodeo.
Pride classics at Groenplaats
Groenplaats will also receive an extra Pride touch on Saturday. Throughout the day, well-known Pride classics will be played at the Rainbow DJ Booth.
Thus, Groenplaats not only serves as a passage between different parts of the city center but also as a place to pause, grab a drink, and enjoy the music and atmosphere in the city.
Celebrating Pride & supporting Het Roze Huis
In Lange Koepoortstraat, Pride will also take on a solidarity dimension. Visitors can purchase a special Pride pin to benefit Het Roze Huis.
With this initiative, local entrepreneurs aim not only to bring color to the street but also to show their support for the organization and its work for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Celebration at Vlasmarkt and Grote Pieter Potstraat
Anyone wanting to continue the celebration after the parade can head to Vlasmarkt and Grote Pieter Potstraat.
With Cutfest and Love is Love, both streets will also be part of the Pride festivities. Music, encounters, and celebration will extend what has already taken place earlier in the day throughout the city.
Kloosterstraat in the front row
Kloosterstraat is right on the route of Antwerp Pride and is therefore one of the places where visitors can experience the parade up close.
The many shops, eateries, and other entrepreneurs in the street will join together with visitors to create a colorful day. Those who want to combine the parade with shopping, eating, or enjoying a terrace will literally be in the front row here.
A whole city center experiencing Pride
With the various activities, Beleef Antwerpen invites visitors to come to the parade on Saturday but also to explore the city and its neighborhoods.
Pride brings many people to Antwerp every year. This is a great opportunity to also get to know the local entrepreneurs, unique shopping streets, and neighborhoods that give the city center its own character.
So feel free to head into the city a bit earlier, walk from one neighborhood to another, discover a new shop, enjoy the animation, and linger a bit after the parade.
Because on Saturday, August 8, Pride will not only be celebrated during the parade. The entire Antwerp city center will celebrate along.
Happy Pride! 🌈
