This is the title of a poem by Mary Oliver and also of Greet Martens' new exhibition. In this poem, Oliver describes the attempt to count the leaves of a single tree every day. For this, she climbs from branch to branch and notes the numbers in a notebook. An impossible task? Foolishness? No it’s not.
"Every day I paint a color on a sheet of paper or on wood, and just like Mary Oliver in her tree, I become 'half crazy' from the wonder of colors. I collect color by color in boxes, and just holding a box and running my hands through it gives me a joyful and exciting feeling. Sometimes relationships between colors can emerge. It is my pleasure to mediate. This shaping is an incredibly inspiring activity."
